Eight arrested in Henry County drug raid

NEW CASTLE, Ind. – Eight people, including a Muncie woman, were arrested on drug-related charges when a New Castle home was raided by the Henry County Area Drug Task Force.

According to court documents, the task force had been investigating reports of drug-related activity at the house, in the 200 block of South 24th Street, for eight months before Wednesday night’s raid.

Meth, marijuana, prescription medication, drug paraphernalia and “multiple hypodermic syringes” were recovered from the house.

Arrested on charges of possession of meth, unlawful possession of a syringe and possession of a controlled substance were:

  • Contessa Nicolette Combs, 27, of the 700 block of North Walnut Street in Muncie. She was also charged with visiting a common nuisance and possession of marijuana.

In four pending Anderson City Court cases, Combs is charged with assiting a criminal, two counts of battery, criminal mischief and possession of marijuana. She was convicted of domestic battery in 2010.

  • Sean P. Bennett, 25, who lives at the house that was raided. He was also charged with maintaining a common nuisance.
  • Robert L. Glover, 27, New Castle, and Tiffany A. Roberts, also 27, of Spiceland, both also charged with visiting a common nuisance.

Roberts was convicted of disorderly conduct in 2016. Glover has been convicted of false informing, visiting a common nuisance and conversion.

The charges against Gerald "Trey" Hammond III, 22; Carl T. Willoughby, 38; Michael Dillon Wood, 26, and Rusty Lynn York, 40, are Class B misdemeanors carrying maximum 180-day jail terms.

Wood pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charge at a Thursday hearing.

The county/city SWAT team, New Castle Police Department and Indiana State Police also participated in the investigation.
