MEN’S BASKETBALL

A trio of Ball State men’s basketball players earned All-Mid-American Conference honors Monday, as selected by the league’s head coaches. Sophomore point guard Tayler Persons was named to the All-MAC Second Team, while senior forward Franko House earned third-team recognition. Additionally, sophomore center Trey Moses was named to the league’s all-defensive team. Persons ranked second in the MAC in assists per game (5.0) and eighth in scoring (16.2) during the regular season and was the first Ball State player ever to record at least 500 points and 150 assists in a single season. House earned all-conference recognition for the second year in a row, as he tied the Ball State career record for games played (126) in the regular-season finale against Northern Illinois. Moses led Ball State in rebounds (8.4) and blocked shots (1.2) per game, ranking among the league leaders in both categories. Moses’ selection marks the second year in a row Ball State has had an all-defensive team member as House was on the team last season.

Persons was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week. The Kokomo product averaged 22.5 points, 6.5 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game last week to help Ball State to the MAC West Division co-championship and a first-round bye in the conference tournament.
