ANDERSON, Ind. -- A Yorktown man is accused of fleeing the scene of a Wednesday night accident that saw his pickup truck strike the rear of a horse-drawn buggy.

Madison County authorities said two occupants of the buggy – Stacy Scott, 65, who is the principal at Liberty Christian High School, and Darby Goyer, 18 – were thrown from the vehicle after it was struck by the truck driven by Jason Eugene Moore, 37.

The accident was reported at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday on Madison County Road 300-E, near County Road 200-S.

Scott and Goyer were treated for injuries at an Anderson hospital. One of two horses pulling the buggy had to be euthanized.

Moore’s damaged truck was later found at a local auto body shop. The Yorktown man was booked into the Madison County jail in Anderson at 2:35 p.m. Friday, and released after posting a $5,000 bond Friday afternoon.

He is preliminarily charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing injury.

Moore was convicted of failure to stop after an accident in Delaware County in 2006. He has also been convicted of disorderly conduct, driving while intoxicated, driving as a habitual traffic violator, invasion of privacy and resisting law enforcement.

He is set to stand trial in January in Delaware Circuit Court 5 on charges, filed in January, of stalking, invasion of privacy and resisting law enforcement.
