MUNCIE, Ind. – Ball State University announced Thursday a “reported sexual assault that occurred in an on-campus residence hall.”

The incident took place Thursday, according to the “public safety advisory.”

“The investigation is ongoing and no arrest has been made,” the statement said.

Anyone with any information on the incident were asked to call campus police at 765-285-1111.

The release also offered “sexual assault crime prevention tips,” including:

  • “Don’t feel obligated to do anything you don’t want to do. ‘I don’t want to’ is always a good enough reason.”
  • “Make sure you have consent. Consent is a clear and freely given yes, not the absence of a no.”

The release said the “timely warning message” reflected Ball State’s commitment “to providing campus-area crime information in compliance with the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act.”

Asked Friday for more details, Ball State spokesman Joan Todd said she could only say the incident is “under investigation.”
