  • Raymond Eric Sailers is accused of using a mortuary’s bank account to pay his household bills.

MUNCIE – City police have declared a Muncie man’s scheme to have a local funeral home pay his bills dead on arrival.

Raymond Eric Sailers, 40, 2504 E. Summerview Drive, was arrested last week on a charge of fraud on a financial institution.

According to an affidavit, an accountant for Parson Mortuary noticed several “out of place” charges — ranging from $520 to $1.80 — drawn on the funeral home’s bank account.

Some of those charges paid for cable TV, power and water service at Sailers’ home.

Interviewed Thursday, Sailers allegedly admitted making the payments using Parson Mortuary’s account. He said he had obtained the necessary banking information in the wake of a family member’s recent funeral.

The former New Castle resident remained in the Delaware County jail on Saturday under a $5,000 bond.

Battery: A Muncie man was arrested last week after he allegedly lifted his girlfriend off the floor by her lower jaw.

Antonio Marquis Sandridge, 20, was charged with domestic battery.

His alleged victim said Sandridge also punched her in the torso and right arm. The assault took place in the presence of two children under the age of 3, an affidavit said.

Sandridge — who has since been released from the Delaware County jail — became enraged when asked to pick up documents from the Social Security office so his accuser “could get some assistance with her utility bills,” according to the report.
