MUNCIE -- A Muncie woman was killed when her vehicle, traveling the wrong way on a four-lane highway, collided with a train just south of the city late Friday night.

Brenna Ann Parsons, 23, was pronounced dead at the scene by Delaware County Coroner Scott Hahn.

Officials on the scene said Parsons was headed south in the northbound lanes of Ind. 67 near Cowan Road when she struck a train. Her car was then destroyed when it went under the train and flipped into the median. The accident happened shortly after 11 p.m., and Parsons was the only person in the vehicle.

Parsons was a 2009 graduate of Wes-Del High School.

David Spence II, an investigator with the Delaware County Sheriff's Department who was on the scene, said Saturday that a call came in to dispatch just moments before the crash about "a silver car traveling the wrong direction in excess of 70 miles an hour."
