Talking Pints brews at All Beers Considered

Indiana Public Radio's All Beers Considered is just around the corner and you can bet the Talking Pints Guys will be there with something special for a few lucky fans. Go to indianapublicradio.org to make your reservations.

Dave: Muncie's longest running and classiest craft beer event is Sept. 6. You don't want to miss this, the seventh installment of Indiana Public Radio's All Beers Considered.

Darrick: Muncie's own Fickle Peach will be providing 20 different craft beers for the event, each one hand selected by owner Chris Piche.

Dave: Chris spends countless hours in the cellars of The Fickle Peach, selecting the best, most interesting beers available to a well-connected craft beer merchant just for this event.

Darrick: The Downtown Farm Stand will feature the creative culinary offerings of Dave and Sara Ring will complement the great craft beer selection. We all know that great beer and great food go together like Butch and Sundance.

Dave: There are a lot of great sponsors making the seventh annual All Beers Considered and as you might expect, the Talking Pints team is doing our part, too.

Darrick: Dave and I, along with our brewing engineer, Jay, have been working hard at the Talking Pints Lab developing three unique beers that some of you will be able to sample at All Beers Considered.

Dave: Team Talking Pints has researched, brewed and experimented with our own beer recipes all year just to bring something special to All Beers Considered. The first 50 people registered for the event get to enjoy our considerable hospitality and our unique brand of entertainment.

Darrick: As if that weren't enough draw, we'll bring beer for you, too. Our beer. Beer you can't taste in any other place in the world and beer that isn't likely to be seen again.

Beer: Strong Scotch Ale

Available at: All Beers Considered on Sept. 6.

Brewery: Talking Pints Homebrew

Style: Strong Scotch Ale

ABV: 12 percent

Dave: Talking Pints created three beers this year. The first is a strong scotch ale featuring a deep malty character with just a pinch of peat smoked malt.

Darrick: The strong scotch ale is a hefty beer, mahogany in color and very clear. There is also a hint of oak and Bourbon in the finish. We could go on about how much we like it but we might finish it all before you get to try some.

Beer: Summer Session Ale

Available at: All Beers Considered on Sept. 6

Brewery: Talking Pints Homebrew

Style: Session Pale Ale

ABV: 6 percent

Dave: This one has pilsner and British base malts and a healthy dose of American hops. We wanted to make something for the warmer weather that was lighter that what we usually brew but still delicious.

Darrick: This ended up with a dry grainy malt flavor and a crisp, citrus hop bitterness. Refreshing and flavorful, we used what we had on hand to brew and the results well, you'll just have to try it.

Beer: Mystery Brew

Available at: All Beers Considered on Sept. 6

Brewery: Talking Pints Homebrew

Style: Russian Imperial Stout and more

ABV: To be determined

Dave: This one is still in the fermenter but the base is a big, Russian Imperial Stout.

Darrick: Malty, dark, rich, with some molasses character and a touch of cherry wood smoked malt will be the foundation of more, fermentation creativity. We'll experiment with three variations and bring the best of them for you to try.

Dave: We can't wait to see you all at Indiana Public Radio's All Beers Considered. It's a great way to enjoy the best that creative brewers and cooks have to offer and spend time talking beer with people in your community.
