SULPHUR SPRINGS – Henry County authorities are investigating the discovery of a young New Castle woman's body in a wildlife area in northern Henry County.

The remains of Kirsten P. Sidwell, 22, were found about 8:30 a.m. Thursday by a fisherman "in the area of Province Pond," according to an Indiana State Police press release.

Asked if the woman's death was being investigated as a homicide, Henry County Sheriff Ric McCorkle said, "We're approaching it that way."

Province Pond is an Indiana Department of Natural Resources wildlife area along Henry County Road 125-W, south of U.S. 36.

"She had not been officially reported missing, but her family was looking for her," McCorkle said.

According to the release, the investigation is being conducted by the Henry County Major Investigation Team, including Indiana State Police troopers, Henry County sheriff's deputies, New Castle police officers and Prosecutor Joseph Bergacs' office.

McCorkle referred questions about the case to Bergacs, who said he could not discuss details because the investigation is ongoing.

Sidwell on March 3 was charged with dealing in a controlled substance in Henry Circuit Court 2.

She was released from the Henry County jail after posting bond on March 19.
