On the day she was scheduled to stand trial, a Henry County mother facing grim allegations of child neglect struck a deal Monday with prosecutors.

Sheena A. Zanghi, 24, is charged with four counts of neglect of a dependent, a Class D felony carrying up to three years in prison.

Authorities said Zanghi’s four children, all under the age of four at the time, were living in a rural mobile home in June 2014 — near Summit Lake in northeastern Henry County — with no running water, electricity or a working bathroom.

Three of the four children were dangerously malnourished, physicians said, and a 14-month-old girl was recovering from a skull fracture.

The terms of the plea agreement — taken under advisement by Henry Circuit Court 1 Judge Mary Willis — were not released. The judge tentatively set sentencing for Aug. 13.

In late July, Zanghi’s 37-year-old husband, Vincent, also reached a plea agreement, which was taken under advisement. His sentencing is also tentatively set for Aug. 13.

Both defendants reached plea agreements with Henry County Prosecutor Joseph Bergacs’ office in February, but Willis rejected those deals in April.
